Servings: 16 Rolls
Ingredients
- 500g good-quality sausage meat
- 1 tbsp Fused Spice Bag Seasoning
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- preferred oil for frying
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 egg beaten
- sesame seeds to garnish
- Fused Sweet Chilli Sauce to serve
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Heat a little oil in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onion and cook for about 5 minutes, until soft and golden.
- Add the sausage meat, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Fry until browned and cooked through.
- Stir in the Fused Spice Bag Seasoning and cook for another few minutes to let all that lovely flavour develop. Remove from the heat and leave to cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, if needed. Cut it in half lengthways to make two long rectangles.
- Divide the sausage mixture in half and spoon each portion along the centre of each pastry strip in a long sausage shape.
- Brush one edge of the pastry with beaten egg, then fold the pastry over the filling to make a log. Press the edges down to seal.
- Cut each log into smaller rolls, about 5cm each, and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the pastry is golden, crisp and gorgeous.
- Serve on a platter with Fused Sweet Chilli Sauce in a little dipping bowl. For extra shine and flavour, drizzle a spoonful over the top just before serving.
Notes
Tip
Let the sausage mixture cool slightly before adding it to the pastry. It makes the rolls easier to shape and helps keep the pastry lovely and crisp.Note
